Windows 7 Support has ended. Office 2010 is next...

By 13th October 2020, Microsoft Office 2010 will no longer be supported

We have now passed the infamous 14th January deadline which meant that Microsoft ended their support for Windows 7. As a result, the majority of Windows 7 users have moved or have started migrating to Windows 10.

Just like Windows 7, Microsoft will be stopping support for Office 2010 by 13th October 2020. Similarly to Windows 7, end of support (sometimes referred to as "end of life") means that Microsoft will no longer provide the following for Office 2010:

  • Technical support for issues
  • Bug fixes for issues that are discovered
  • Security fixes for vulnerabilities that are discovered

So what has changed since Office 2010?

The apps within the suite have become more sophisticated due to them being included in the Office 365 offering. Premium versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint come with built-in intelligence which allow you to co-author, dictate into documents, get real-time data and much more.

It is now also easier to collaborate with colleagues by making edits and offering feedback in real time, and also easier to access and save your files securely from any device with 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage.

Additionally, there are now options to safeguard your digital assets with OneDrive security such as ransomware detection, password-protected sharing links and file recovery. There's also advanced virus and phishing protection with Outlook.com.

What happens if I keep Office 2010?

Although there are many other products from other vendors that will be ceasing support, Microsoft Office is one of the most widely used applications; predominantly by business employees. Because of its popularity, it is also one of the most widely attacked products for hackers. Leaving yourself out of support leaves any business at risk, so now is the time to start planning a migration away from Office 2010.

What are my options?

What is an LCA? 3 Examples of Life-Cycle Assessments in Building Projects

12 November 2024

A Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a powerful tool used to measure the complete environmental impact of a building project. It evaluates the carbon footprint and other environmental effects throughout a building's life, across four key stages: production, use, end-of-life, and beyond.
