CAD Training with Symetri

The origin of the word cad appeared in the late 18th century and refers to the picking up of a fee-paying passenger in a horse-drawn carriage and is the abbreviated version of Caddie. The Oxford dictionary definition of the word cad refers to a man who behaves dishonorably (Who didn’t just love the late great Terry Thomas, an upper-class cad, and absolute bounder).

Today, when people use the term CAD, we of course know it is the acronym for Computer Aided Design or Computer Aided Drafting which appears to be the generic term for any kind of computer-based drawing activity. However, despite the vast array of CAD software available, for many people, the term CAD is the abbreviation for Autodesk’s AutoCAD. AutoCAD is the most commonly used 2d drafting package in the world, and it’s hardly surprising that even when someone mentions the word CAD we automatically assume they are talking about Autodesk’s AutoCAD.

The CAD training courses delivered by our very capable and professional team here at Symetri, will teach you to neither operate a horse-drawn carriage or behave dishonorably in any way. You’re in safe hands. With over 30 years of experience delivering numerous training courses, and a team of experts that have come from many different industries and a wide range of individual experiences, you will leave your AutoCAD training course with a good understanding of AutoCAD based upon whatever topic your CAD course covered.

I used a word cloud in a previous blog post to demonstrate just how many industries and uses CAD can be put to. It is a very versatile product so therefore a CAD training courses could be just as wide and varied. You may want one of our standard offerings to build a good solid foundation in your understanding of the product, or you may want to speak to us about how a course could be tailored to suit your specific needs, and even to utilize your own project data. Whether you are based in Architecture, Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities Management or any other activity that focuses on the creation of geometry or drawings, get in touch with us and we would be happy to talk to you about how we can work together to provide you with the most appropriate CAD training course.

What is an LCA? 3 Examples of Life-Cycle Assessments in Building Projects

12 November 2024

A Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a powerful tool used to measure the complete environmental impact of a building project. It evaluates the carbon footprint and other environmental effects throughout a building's life, across four key stages: production, use, end-of-life, and beyond. Below are three examples of how LCAs can guide decisions for more sustainable building projects.
