Autodesk Vault Gateway

The latest release of Autodesk Vault 2023 came out a few weeks ago. This has the usual host of new features however there is one that has everyone talking … that is the new Autodesk Vault Gateway functionality for Vault Professional.

Autodesk Vault Gateway allows users, external to your company, to connect to your vault environment.  This is done without giving company VPN access or opening your server to the web via HTTPS but instead uses Autodesk’s Forge Platform to securely connect in. Gateway can be used for those that are Hybrid or working from home as well as external 3rd party users that you want to access your data or contribute data.  The gateway connection itself is easy to set up, taking a few minutes from within the Autodesk Data management console.  This is followed up by a 10 - 30 minute wait while the connection is created and established to your server. Once in place, you will be provided with a web address that users enter when logging into their clients. The Gateway connection itself will allow authentication to the vault using Vault accounts and Autodesk IDs.

This is a great new innovation for Vault that many companies have been asking for over the last few years.  If you want to look at this in more detail, please watch our short Autodesk Vault Gateway video below. If you would like to discuss the Gateway service further, then please contact us.

As with any external access to a system please keep in mind that you need to ensure you have a robust security model within Vault.  We are able to provide security audits on vaults to ensure that your data is secure and can be managed in a robust and scalable fashion to maintain your data integrity.
